If the text of your nameplates varies then hand engraving, machine engraving or stamping is usually the economical choice. When you need a quantity of identical plates the price advantage often goes to embossing, stamping, etching, printing or silk screening. For nameplates needing pictures, barcodes, data matrix or something similar then laser engraving, etching, printing and silk screening become the price competitive methods. Machine engraving gives greatest depth, permanence of mark and general readability. The permanence of other methods generally falls in the order of embossing, stamping, etching and silk screening.
